AI-assisted buyer guidance based on supplied catalogue material and the methods described below. Sources & content standards
A useful picture frame packaging specification has three levels: protection around the frame, the contents of one retail pack, and the shipping carton. Describe each separately. “Shrink wrap” or “OPP bag” in a catalogue identifies a packing material; it does not establish a complete shipping solution.
Start with the delivery route
Write down where the packed frames go next: a distribution centre, a shop, or an individual customer. A shop replenishment carton and a parcel sent to one customer can involve different handling and presentation requirements. Give the supplier your actual route and your customer’s packaging instructions before asking for a proposal.
If a retailer or delivery programme has a named packaging requirement, attach its current document and version. Do not replace it with a general request for “export quality”. This guide specifies what to discuss; it does not certify a packing design for a transport route.
Describe all three packaging levels
Swipe across the table to see every column.
| Level | Record in the brief | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Individual frame | Exposed surfaces, corners, glazing, loose fittings and protection needed between components. | Open-pack photographs showing the front, back, corners and removable protection. |
| Retail unit | One frame or a defined set; included inserts, accessories, instructions, labels and presentation box. | A contents list and a sample of the complete sellable pack. |
| Shipping carton | Retail units per carton, arrangement, separation, external dimensions, gross weight and carton markings. | Packing drawing or photographs plus a measured packed carton. |
For a mixed-size set, specify the position of each frame within the pack. Do not assume smaller frames nest inside larger ones without contact or movement. Ask how the proposed arrangement separates finished surfaces and restrains any loose hardware.
Read catalogue packing fields correctly
The supplied catalogue lists shrink wrap for some frames, an individual OPP bag for the YC030 mini frame and YC034 keyring reference, and film wrapping for the YC041 acrylic display. These entries are starting references, not proof of corner protection, a printed box or transit testing.
Request the complete packing proposal for the exact SKU, finish and quantity you are considering. Changing the outer frame dimensions, glazing, number of pieces or retail box can change the shipping arrangement. Keep the packing revision attached to the quotation.
Count retail units before cartons
Illustrative calculation: suppose a purchase brief requests 120 retail sets, five frames per set, and a proposed six complete sets per carton. The order contains 120 × 5 = 600 frames and 120 ÷ 6 = 20 full cartons. These are hypothetical inputs, not a Youchuang MOQ or confirmed pack configuration.
For 125 sets at the same proposed pack count, 20 full cartons hold 120 sets, leaving five sets. The brief therefore needs one partial carton or an agreed revised quantity. Record that final carton separately; do not label it as another full carton.
Calculate volume only from packed dimensions
For external carton measurements in centimetres, cubic metres per carton = length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000. Using a hypothetical 60 × 40 × 30 cm carton gives 0.072 m³. Twenty identical cartons occupy 1.44 m³ before any pallet or other consolidation allowance.
This geometric calculation is not a freight quote. Freight billing can also depend on weight, service, route and carrier rules. Obtain actual packed measurements and gross weight, then ask the logistics provider to quote on those inputs. An outer frame size cannot be substituted for an outer carton size.
Review an opened pack and its evidence
- Match the pack to its SKU, drawing revision and contents list.
- Count the frames, fittings, inserts and instructions in one retail unit.
- Photograph the order of layers and the protection at surfaces and corners.
- Record the measured carton dimensions, gross weight and retail units inside.
- If transport testing is required, agree the test scope and obtain the report for the actual packing configuration.
A photograph documents an arrangement. It does not demonstrate resistance to drops, vibration, compression or moisture. No transport-test performance is claimed for the catalogue packaging here.
Put the result into your buying brief
Use one sentence for each level: “Individual protection: [requirement]. Retail unit: [contents and presentation]. Shipping carton: [proposed units, measurements and markings].” Add your route, customer requirements and any unresolved points. The packaging brief worksheet keeps those fields together.
Continue with the gallery set layout and quantity guide, then record the packing decision in the sample approval checklist.
Basis: supplied Youchuang catalogue packing fields, linked SKU reference pages and the stated arithmetic examples. This is a buyer planning method, not an independently tested packaging recommendation or a claim that a particular packaging option is available.
